Resistance is futile!

Recent years have shown a dramatic increase in rates of antimicrobial resistance in many types of microorganisms. Within sexual health and HIV medicine, with increasing rates of numerous STIs, this is particularly pertinent. This event will explore the latest evidence on antimicrobial resistance, investigation of resistant organisms, and optimal treatment to prevent resistance and manage resistance organisms.

Three separate education sessions will explore resistance in HIV, Gonorrhoea and Mycoplasma genitalium. Food and drinks will be provided, including post-session cocktails and canapes.

We are lucky enough to be joined by A/Prof Roger Garsia (HIV Specialist, Immunologist and Allergy Specialist at RPA Hospital, and Head of Clinical School at the University of Sydney), Dr Deborah Couldwell (Western Sydney Sexual Health Centre) and Professor David Lewis (Director - Western Sydney Sexual Health Centre). Their breadth and depth of knowledge will be a major boon in helping us to understand the clinical and practical relevance of antimicrobial resistance.
