Dr Deborah Bateson is the Medical Director of Family Planning NSW and has worked in reproductive and sexual health for over 18 years as a clinician, educator and researcher. In 2013 she was the Global Medical Director for Marie Stopes International overseeing the delivery of safe abortion and reproductive health services in 37 countries around the world. She is the past Chair and co-Chair of the Australasian Sexual Health Alliance and holds honorary positions as Clinical Associate Professor in the Discipline of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatology at the University of Sydney and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Australian Research Centre for Sex, Health and Society at La Trobe University in Victoria. Deborah is an invited member of the RANZCOG Sexual Health Special Interest Groups and the RACGP Sexual Health Medicine Network. Her main clinical and research interests relate to reproductive justice and equitable access to contraception and abortion as well as cervical cancer prevention.

HIV affects women in unique ways. This event will be exploring issues in women (both cis and trans) with HIV, and will include information on contraception, hormone replacement therapy, antiretroviral therapy and potential interactions, and cervical screening. Kindly presented by Dr Deborah Bateson, dinner and drinks will be served while Dr Bateson provides us with an update on current evidence on important issues for women living with HIV.
